Victor Hugo's house , Paris/ Guernesey
The City of Paris retains both houses Victor Hugo held the longest, the Hôtel de Rohan-Guéménée in Paris and Hauteville House in Guernsey. Hotel de Rohan-Guéménée became a museum in 1902, thanks to the donation made by Paul Meurice to the city of Paris. The apartment inhabited by Victor Hugo from 1832 to 1848 today restores his life over the three key periods: before the exile, during the exile from exile. The museum presents two exhibitions per year showcasing the works of visionary designer collections and that was also Victor Hugo. Hauteville House was purchased in 1856 through the success of Contemplations, and given to the City of Paris in 1927 by the descendants of Victor Hugo.
