In 1896, the financial Henri Cernuschi bequeathed to the City of Paris his mansion on the edge of the Parc Monceau and its Far Eastern art collection acquired during his world tour. The museum completely renovated in 2005, has a remarkable collection of ancient Chinese art regularly enriched by acquisitions and donations: Neolithic pottery, archaic bronzes, funeral statues as well as a fine collection of Chinese paintings of the twentieth century classical and modern.
