Algebra derived from Arabic al-jebr meaning "reunion of broken parts". It's one of the broadest branch in mathematics. In its most general form algebra is the study of symbols and the rules for manipulating these symbols. Algebra is a unifying thread of all of mathematics. In elementary algebra numbers are often represented by symbols called variables.
