Founded in 1876, Texas A&M University is a U.S. public and comprehensive university offering a wide variety of academic programs far beyond its original label of agricultural and mechanical trainings. It is one of the few institutions holding triple federal designations as a land-, sea- and space-grant university. Texas A&M ranks among the top ten in four key categories: student body size, enrollment of National Merit Scholars, research expenditures, and endowment. It’s also a Senior Military College with a highly visible military presence on campus. Programs are offered through the Colleges of Agriculture, Architecture, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, Geosciences, Liberal Arts, Medicine, Science and Veterinary Medicine. Its 5,200-acre campus is located in College Station, 90 miles northwest of Houston.
