President of the Union of India is the Head of State and also the first citizen of the country. He is also the commander-in-chief of the Indian Armed forces. Although vested with powers by the Constitution of India, the position remains mostly a ceremonial role, with the major executive powers resting with the Prime Minister and his cabinet ministers.
