(1) A 1-character or 2-character code that is used by a programme to test a field or record or to tell when certain operations are to be performed.
(2) An internal switch used by a programme to remember when a certain event occurs and what to do when that event occurs.
(3) In the RPG licenced program, a 2-character code that is used as a logical variable or statement label.
