In photography, symmetry is when the left and right sides and top and bottom of your frame are the same and balanced by their opposites. When using symmetry in photography, one should aim for an even distribution of weight, which may mean size, shape, or color. With symmetry, for every element you place on one side of the frame, place something of similar weight directly across on the opposite side.
