organic light-emitting diode (OLED)

Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) are a type of LED with an emissive electroluminescent layer made from organic compounds. The layer is usually made of polymers that emit a red, green or blue light when a voltage is applied. A matrix of lines and columns creates an array of pixels that can be deposited onto a range of substrates. The response time of the individual pixels is fast, with no backlight and similar to LCDs, OLED displays offer high-quality, high-contrast and even full-motion video.
