graphite-mill operator
A professional who tends screening and blending machine that removes rocks and twigs from coarse coke and mixes it with fine-ground coke to produce blended mix used to pack carbon electrodes in graphite furnaces. Respnsibilities include:
- Shovels or dumps coarse coke onto vibrating screens.
- Starts screens that separate rocks, twigs, and other materials from coke.
- Starts conveyors that carry sifted coke from screening area and fine-ground coke from storage bins to top of blending tanks and dumps them into tanks.
- Starts blender blades that mix coke.
- Turns valves to release blended mix from blending tanks into storage tanks for removal to graphite furnaces.
