chrismation

Chrismation is a sacrament in Eastern Christianity synonymous with confirmation. It is performed immediately after the baptism, regardless of the age of the baptized or who performed the baptism (bishop or priest), by anointing the baptized on his eyebrows, cheeks, nostrils, mouth, hands and feet by myrrh. The sacrament is believed to confer the gifts of the Holy Spirit upon the faithful. This sacrament is generally performed only once, and is repeated only in the case of people who have left the Church but decided to return. The form is rather simple: the priest/bishop anoints saying: "The gift of the seal of the Holy Spirit" while the people respond with "Amen" at every anointing.
