A professional who tends one or more machines that automatically cut, glue, and form cartons or caddies from pasteboard rolls for kitchen, penny, and book matches. Responsibilities include:

• Rolls pasteboard to machine, positions on letoff rack, and threads end of pasteboard strip into machine.
• Starts and observes machine operation and corrects malfunctions, such as improper forming, glue flow, or pasteboard tension, using handtools.
• Observes finished cartons as they drop from forming machine into rotating hopper, then into gravity feed chute, to prevent jamming.
• May lift tote box of finished cartons and dump cartons into feed hopper.
