One of the earlier dynasties in Chinese history (1050-226 BC)the Zhou dynasty is credited to be the longest dynasty in Chinese history. Although that is mis leading due to they did not have military control throughout this time period with Ji having military control of Eastern Zhou dynasty while Western Zhou functioned on its own. Many other sub states also retained armies of their own.
