The one other major feature of Windows 10 is that Windows 10 on phones will now run Windows 10 apps. Core applications, including e-mail (now under the Outlook brand), mapping, photo management, and messaging, as well as the Cortana digital assistant, are all now universal apps, sharing their code this means that Windows 10 will be able to run on all devices from phones to servers and there will be a single app store across the lot but tailored interfaces for each device. The Store in Windows 10 will be a one stop shop for hundreds of thousands of apps including games, music, videos, as well as a new version of Office. This also means much greater commonality between the platforms. Their status as apps also makes for easier maintenance: no additional needs to roll out an operating system update to improve mail, for example. It can just update the app through the store.
