Walhalla Glades Pueblo
Located at the north rim of the Grand Canyon, Walhalla Glades Pueblo was inhabited by Indians who made it their summer home some 900 years ago. Walhalla Plateau is a 'peninsula' surrounded on three sides by the Grand Canyon and its elevation is a bit lower than most of the North Rim. Updrafts of warm air from the inner canyon allow the winter snows to melt earlier in Walhalla Plateau than from other rim areas. This made Walhalla a favorable place for ancestral people to farm. The site was a summer home to families for over 100 years. The site dates from between 1050 A.D. to 1150 A.D. Over 100 farm sites have been found across Walhalla Plateau.
