One of the greatest man-made wonders in the world, it was built as an ancient military defense network. Closest places sections of the wall to Beijing are Badaling and Mutianyu. Badaling is easier to get to, but if you have a whole day and the foresight to plan it out Mutianyu has some of the most dramatic views seen on the whole wall.
