The Shanghai Tower is a super-tall skyscraper in Pudong District, Shanghai, China. Designed by Gensler of the U.S., it will be the tallest building in China and the second-tallest in the world at the time of its completion in 2014. The Shanghai Tower is one of a group of three super-tall buildings in Pudong's Lujiazui finance and trade zone, the other two being the Jin Mao Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Center. The tower is mixed-use building with a height 2,073 ft (632 meters) and 128 stories, covering a total floor area of 4,090,000 sq ft (380,000 square meters.)
The tower has a soft vertical spiral rotating design at 20 degrees and scaling at 55% rate exponentially. Within its 128-stories, Shanghai Tower contains Class-A office space, entertainment venues, retail, a conference center, a luxury hotel and cultural amenity spaces. The tower will be registered for a high level of building certification from the China Green Building Committee and the U.S. Green Building Council.
