Growl vocals, or simply growling, refers to a singing technique mainly associated with black and death metal genres. As the name itself suggest, it is a form of vocal expression using harsh guttural voice. Although it was used sporadically in other types of music even before the advent of heavy metal, it is normally connected to more extreme types of heavy metal music.
