The United Nations Organization (UNO), or simply United Nations (UN), is an international organization whose stated aims are facilitating cooperation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress, human rights, and the achieving of world peace.
In a PKO which contains substantial civilian elements, a civilian-military structure of integrated support services may be established to perform liaison and coordination between the military support structure, NGOs, PVOs and local authorities; e.g. the CMOC was opened by US Joint Task Force Support Hope in Entebbe (Uganda) and Kigali (Rwanda); in Haiti, UNMIH has an integrated civilian/military headquarters.
