Specific wavelengths of onboard satellite sensors.
Industry:Weather
Spectroscopic feature of the ozone molecule with considerable structure related to vibrational levels in the ozone molecule occurring at a wavelength around 600 nm, or an energy of 2 eV. The absorption bands lead to photodissociation of an ozone molecule into an O2 molecule and an oxygen atom. The bands were first identified in the atmospheric spectrum by Chappuis (1880) and have been used to measure ozone in the atmosphere.
Industry:Weather
Some representative velocity in a physical system.
Industry:Weather
Sounding by means of a moored balloon carrying instruments to determine the values of one or more upper-air meteorological elements. Especially used for studies in micrometeorology and mesometeorology.
Industry:Weather
Some representative length of a physical system, for example, the radius of a vortex, correlation length of atmospheric temperature fluctuations.
Industry:Weather
Solids that conserve mass in natural water systems.
Industry:Weather
Snow-loving; usually used to describe plants that have grown through a snow cover.
Industry:Weather
Small glacier lying wholly within a cirque, or topographic hollow, created by glacial excavation located high in mountainous areas.
Industry:Weather
Sky with a total cover greater than four octas (eighths).
Industry:Weather
Short period surface gravity waves that give the sea surface a confused appearance.
